Car’s Lithium Ion Battery to outnumber Laptop demand

0

According to iSupply news report, the suitability of lithium ion battery over other battery which makes it attractive to current EV car markets may well boost it’s demand to a point where it exceeds the demand from laptop market!

Dominant battery pack car like Toyota Prius is still using Nickel Metal Hydride as their battery source but it is known that new Toyota Prius will be equipped with Lithium ion battery. New EV cars like Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt are currently using Lithium ion as well.

Although this paint a rosy picture for Lithium ion but there are reports of earlier generation Lithium ion battery is susceptible to catching on fire due to irregular heat control, those that actually caught fire can be found in the news here where an electric taxi in China burst into flames. Rest assured that auto markers are doing their very best to develop proper circuit which will regulate temperature to avoid overheating and cars bursting into flames.

Lithium ion battery is a popular item now thanks for EV cars, laptop battery, mobile phones and tablets. This would definitely drive down cost for battery replacement in the near future!
