Malaysian Automotive Association Sales Data
1
| Car Model | June 2011 Sales | July 2011 Sales | Year-to-Date Sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Alto | 111 | 60 | 670 |
| Suzuki Grand Vitara | 23 | 5 | 271 |
| Suzuki Swift | 393 | 223 | 2953 |
| Suzuki SX4 | 88 | 60 | 521 |
The above data was obtained courtesy of Paultan.org which compile all Malaysia automotive sales from Malaysian Automotive Association.
All vehicle type sold by Suzuki has been in decline, Alto and Grand Vitara faring the worst where both sales volume have a drop by half!
No comment on Swift July sales as many people restrain from buying when news of “new” Swift was coming out then.
SX4 albeit not having good sales it still doing quite consistently, bear in mind this vehicle is the only Suzuki brand which is still hard to find in the second hand market!
Lets compare to other vehicle model(except P1 and P2) which is the same segment as Swift!
| Car Model | June 2011 Sales | July 2011 Sales | Year-to-Date Sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ford Fiesta | 287 | 349 | 2384 |
| Honda City | 499 | 544 | 7802 |
| Honda Jazz | 68 | 41 | 321 |
| Mazda 2 | 183 | 147 | 1047 |
| Peugeot 207 Sedan | 87 | 80 | 975 |
| Toyota Vios | 2159 | 3015 | 16816 |
| Toyota Yaris | 0 | 1 | 5 |
| Volkswagen Polo TSI | 147 | 89 | 780 |
| Volkswagen Golf TSI | 132 | 141 | 786 |
As usual, Toyota Vios will be leading the pack with Honda City trailing behind by a very far margin.Funny that with so many value for money, better equipped cars in the market now, Toyota Vios market share is still increasing.
Ford Fiesta doing well, Mazda 2 which shares the same chassis as Fiesta on the other hand is failing.
Peugeot 207 with so much advertising on the newspaper and value for money, apparent is still not achieving much sales.
Not surprise at Volkswagen Polo to have drop in sales, its just too small and the interior is not what a person would pay RM110k for.
Wonder how Suzuki will do in August and also when Suzuki will finally add the long delayed Kizashi into that list!
Car’s Lithium Ion Battery to outnumber Laptop demand
0According to iSupply news report, the suitability of lithium ion battery over other battery which makes it attractive to current EV car markets may well boost it’s demand to a point where it exceeds the demand from laptop market!
Dominant battery pack car like Toyota Prius is still using Nickel Metal Hydride as their battery source but it is known that new Toyota Prius will be equipped with Lithium ion battery. New EV cars like Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt are currently using Lithium ion as well.
Although this paint a rosy picture for Lithium ion but there are reports of earlier generation Lithium ion battery is susceptible to catching on fire due to irregular heat control, those that actually caught fire can be found in the news here where an electric taxi in China burst into flames. Rest assured that auto markers are doing their very best to develop proper circuit which will regulate temperature to avoid overheating and cars bursting into flames.
Lithium ion battery is a popular item now thanks for EV cars, laptop battery, mobile phones and tablets. This would definitely drive down cost for battery replacement in the near future!
